Chin Augmentation/ Implant
The chin defines the lower third of the face and a weak, or recessed chin can throw off the proportions of your face.
The facial proportions and harmony can be restored using Surgical or Non-Surgical chin augmentation.
In Non-Surgical augmentation, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Juvéderm Voluma® injections are used to add volume to the chin. This is done at the clinic under local anaesthesia and is associated with quick recovery. The duration of this augmentation differs between patients, but on average a top-up will be needed around 1.5 – 2 years.
Surgical Augmentation, uses a silicone implant that is custom fitted into place through a hidden cut made just under your chin or through your mouth. This procedure is done under local anaesthesia with or without sedation. While the swelling and recovery takes longer than filler injection, the effect is long lasting and generally lasts for your lifetime.
The majority of patients undergoing chin implant surgery have a good result without any problems. We will however make sure that you are aware of all the reported risks through the consultation process and the documentation you will receive.
The cost of a non-surgical chin augmentation generally starts from 300 GBP and can vary upwards depending on the volume needed.
The cost of a silicone chin implant surgery at our Mumbai, India centre, generally starts from 770 GBP onwards.
Depending on the number of syringes of Voluma required to achieve the desired result, the cost can vary from 300 – 700 GBP, onwards.
While most patients don’t have much swelling or bruising after a chin implant surgery, we tell our patients to expect a couple of weeks for the swelling to reduce to normal; rarely it can take a bit longer.
There is virtually no downtime, following the filler injections, rarely you can get some bruising or swelling.
Most well placed and settled chin implants will last your lifetime and don’t need to be removed.
Generally, you will need a top-up at anywhere between an year to 2 years, to maintain the result.
The chin implant can be placed on the jaw through two approaches. In the first a small cut is made just under the chin and in the second approach the implant is placed through an incision that is taken through the inside of the lower lip. The external scar is barely visible after a year or so and the internal scar is virtually invisible.
